Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to hack my existing HDB tiles, or can I overlay them?
If you have an HDB flat, you can overlay new tiles on top of the old ones provided the existing tiles are still intact (no hollow sounds or popping) and your flat has not exceeded the allowable weight load. However, for bathrooms, we always recommend hacking the old tiles to re-apply a fresh layer of waterproofing membrane.
How long does a typical tiling work take in Singapore?
For a standard 4-room HDB flat (living room and bedrooms), floor tiling works generally take between 5 to 7 days, including screeding, tile laying, and grouting. Bathroom hacking and tiling takes roughly 3 to 4 days per bathroom due to the required curing time for waterproofing.
What is epoxy grout and should I upgrade to it?
Traditional cement grout is porous, meaning it absorbs water, dirt, and eventually turns yellow or black with mold—especially in bathrooms and kitchens. Epoxy grout is 100% waterproof, stain-proof, and never discolors. We highly recommend upgrading to epoxy grout for wet areas to minimize future maintenance.
