Mall Handover Rules You Have To Meet
- Overnight works only. Most malls only allow hacking and debris haulage between about 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM, with the unit cleaned before opening.
- Hoarding and floor protection. Dust-proof hoarding across the shopfront and floor protection along the haulage route to the service lift. Damage to common areas is deducted from your deposit.
- Permit to Work first. Risk assessment, bizSAFE certificates and insurance go to building management before any work starts, and service lifts must be booked.
- Deposit after sign-off. Building management releases your deposit only after every item on the handover checklist is signed off, so the documents matter as much as the works.
- Ask about leaving fixtures. If the next tenant wants items such as the DB box, an as-is handover waiver with an indemnity letter can save demolition costs.
